UPDATE: Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash in Abbotsford

Collision also involving a car takes place at Mt. Lehman and South Fraser Way

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a crash Thursday afternoon (May 7) at the intersection of Fraser Highway and Mt. Lehman Road in Abbotsford.

Abbotsford Police Sgt. Judy Bird said the collision took place just before 2 p.m. between a motorcycle and a “sedan-type” vehicle.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital by BC Ambulance Service, while the driver of the car remained on scene and was not seriously injured, Bird said.

She said the cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and investigators remain on scene.

Road closures, as of 4 p.m. Thursday, are:

• Mt. Lehman Road from Highstreet Mall access, south to South Fraser Way;

• Fraser Highway from Ross Road east to Highway One access;

• the intersection of Maclure Road and Blue Jay Street to westbound traffic; and

• the off-ramps at Mt. Lehman Road.
