Fraser Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at an assisted-living facility in Abbotsford.

The agency said in a press release on Monday (Nov. 1) that two residents at Hallmark on the Park – owned and operated by Baptist Housing Seniors Living – have tested positive for the virus.

Fraser Health said the residents are currently in self-isolation at their homes. The press release doesn’t indicate whether they are vaccinated or not.

“During this time, Fraser Health has additional presence at the sites to take any further actions required and support the facility,” the press release states.

“This includes dedicated people to address quality; answer questions from staff, residents and family; and provide active checks of symptoms with staff and residents.”

Social visits are restricted in the affected areas of the facility, but essential visits can continue. As well, twice-a-day screening of staff and residents is taking place.

Fraser Health has also declared an outbreak at The Cedars, an assisted-living facility in Mission, where one resident has tested positive.

The Fraser Health website states that an outbreak is declared “when evidence is found of COVID-19 spread from one person who has tested positive for COVID-19 to another person in a long-term care or assisted living site.”
