There weren't just a bunch of pretty faces who turned out Friday night at Sportstown for the first tryout for the B.C. Angels of the Lingerie Football League.

The coaches were impressed at the athleticism that was on display during a two-hour tryout in which the athletes showed their offensive and defensive skills.

Richmond's Alessa Garcia was among those who made it past the first round of cuts, but the coaches encouraged those who didn't make it this time around to come back in three weeks when another round of tryouts is taking place.

The coaches from the league's American counterpart walked the gridiron hopefuls through a series of drills intended to gauge their offensive and defensive skills.

From a one-on-one tackling drill, to throwing and catching, to running routes, to trying to sack the quarterback, it was an exhausting tryout that left many of the women with souvenirs in the form of scrapes and bruises. And smiles.

After the tryouts were done, and before the coaches announced who they'd like to continue to work with, many of the football hopefulls said they had fun, and enjoyed the camaraderie and workout.
