City manager George Murray is on the mend and likely set to return to work soon after suffering a heart attack in the spring.

Murray – the highest-ranking city staffer – had a heart attack on Good Friday and has been off work since.

Mayor Henry Braun said at the Mayor’s Breakfast on Wednesday that Murray is doing “much better” and will return to work on July 10.

“We’re looking forward to having him back,” said Braun. He also thanked deputy city manager Jake Rudolph for filling in for Murray in the months since.

Murray was named Abbotsford’s city manager in December 2012. He was previously the CAO for the Fraser Valley Regional District.
