A Chilliwack man with an extensive criminal history is remanded in custody and due in court July 31 after police recovered a stolen vehicle and property.

Justin Norman Larsen, 33, was arrested June 20 after an investigation that began on Lickman Road. It was there that a Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) officer observed a suspicious van travelling on Lickman. The officer located the van parked in the Park N’ Ride on Yale Road West where he saw an SUV leaving the lot.

Further queries determined the SUV was stolen.

Evidence gathered by police connected the alleged theft to an address in the 42000–block of Keith Wilson Road and led them to the abandoned SUV.

Later that afternoon, the suspect was taken into custody by police when he returned to the Park N’ Ride lot.

A search warrant was executed at the Keith Wilson address where officers seized further property. Three people arrested by police during the search were released from custody at the scene.

Larsen remains in custody facing charges of possession of stolen auto and possession of stolen property. Larsen is next scheduled to appear in Chilliwack provincial court July 31.

He is also due in Abbotsford provincial court July 20 for an alleged assault in Mission from December.

“The arrest was the result of an alert CRU officer and the immediate deployment of Chilliwack RCMP resources,” said Cpl. Mike Rail spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP.

The RCMP remind everyone who witnesses anything they believe to be suspicious in nature to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
