Charges stayed against Abbotsford couple in 2010 bust

Charges were stayed Thursday in Abbotsford provincial court against a couple who had their four-year-old daughter taken away after a bust at their home early last year.

Charges were stayed Thursday in Abbotsford provincial court against a couple who had their four-year-old daughter taken away after a bust at their home early last year.

Hien Bui, 39, and his 34-year-old wife, Thuy, were each facing two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Police executed a search warrant on Jan. 27, 2010 at the pair's home at 36211 Sandringham Drive. At the time, they said Bui was a high-ranking member of the UN Gang.

The search turned up six ounces of heroin, 9.5 ounces of cocaine and $3,600 cash. Found in the child's bedroom were a drug scale and a Disney store bag in which  drugs has been stashed.

The mom and daughter were found in the master bedroom. The girl was taken into the custody of the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
