A man who was allegedly found with two loaded handguns in his vehicle after asking a police officer to obtain his OxyContin prescription has now been charged.

Matthew Michael Ireland, 22, faces seven weapons charges, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and "break out after committing an offence."

It is alleged that Ireland was caught on video surveillance breaking out of a store in Sevenoaks Shopping Centre on April 23. He was arrested for that offence eight days later and placed in the back of a police car.

He then asked the arresting officer to obtain the OxyContin left in his pickup truck. While searching for the pills, the officer allegedly found a .45 calibre semi-automatic handgun and a .357 Magnum.
