Cat burglar sentenced to 18 months' house arrest

Cat burglar Clayton Kopeck, 18, of Abbotsford has received an 18-month conditional sentence (house arrest) after previously pleading guilty to one count of break-and-enter.

Cat burglar Clayton Kopeck, 18, of Abbotsford has received an 18-month conditional sentence (house arrest) after previously pleading guilty to one count of break-and-enter.

Kopeck was originally charged with three burglaries, but charges were stayed on the other two. He was sentenced Wednesday in Abbotsford provincial court.

A series of burglaries occurred in July in which the thief entered residences through sliding glass doors while the occupants were sleeping. Jewelry, cash and electronics were stolen.
