A small sedan hit a power pole on Marshall Road, shearing the pole off.
The single-vehicle accident occurred around 11 a.m. at Marshall and Vinewood roads.
Abbotsford police, fire rescue and emergency services responded to the accident, and the elderly female driver was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The car hit the pole and came to rest off the road, partially on the sidewalk and a lawn.
BC Hydro has been called to scene.
Traffic is being diverted in the westbound lanes, but is moving eastbound in one lane.
