A car smashed into the brick wall of a building in Abbotsford on Sunday night after the teen driver was apparently doing “doughnuts” in the parking lot.

The Abbotsford Police Department and Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service were called to Immel Plaza – located in the area of Immel Street and Old Clayburn Road – at about 11:15 p.m.

When crews arrived, they found that a car had crashed into a building in a back parking lot of the plaza. The passenger had fled, but the driver stayed inside the vehicle and was taken to hospital for treatment of neck injuries.

Sources said the 17-year-old driver, who apparently only had his “N” licence for just a few days, was doing “doughnuts” when he lost control of the car and slammed into the wall.
