This year the main stage at the Canada Day Celebration at Rotary Stadium will be jumping with an assortment of entertainment for every taste.

One of the main attractions will be the more than 110 musicians of the award-winning Husky Marching Band from western Washington. The band will be performing 40 minutes of their stylish musical and dance moves for the crowd on the grounds in front of the stage at 3 p.m.

In addition, Yuca, Bed of Stars, John Welsh and The Tourist Company will be performing a range of music from reggae to rock in the afternoon and evening.

The Tourist Company’s progressive folk hit, Irrepressible Future, is an inspirational vision of what life will be like when we all march forward with a dream of a better life for all.

John Welsh’s eclectically upbeat musical stylings peppered by reggae and jazz influences will have everyone up and singing along. His bright personality and playful audience antics make this musician a cold drink on a hot day.

Bed of Stars’ Evan Konrad is a Renaissance man: a multi-instrumentalist, composer and vocalist. He came to the attention of Juno-nominated producer Daniel Victor who immediately signed him to Ocean Records. Konrad’s influences are Rufus Wainwright, Jeff Buckley and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and his performance is sure to inspire.

Yuca is the evening’s main act. Charismatic Matt Borck’s visceral ode to freedom, Maybe We’ll Riot’s electric drums and guitar will bring the crowd rising to their feet with fists pumping. With Andy Boldt on bass and backing vocals and Dave Atkinson on drums, Yuca is a not-to-be missed trio of solid rockers.

To top off the night, just before the fireworks, DJ NoLuv from Sonic Nation will be spinning the hottest dance music to groove to, with your friends, from 8:45 p.m. to just before the sky lights up at 10 p.m.

Canada Day celebrations begin with the parade down South Fraser Way at 11 a.m. Family fun begins at Abbotsford Exhibition park from 1 to 5 p.m. and entertainment on the main stage goes from 1 to 10 p.m., and fireworks complete the celebrations at 10 p.m. For more information visit abbotsford.ca/canadaday.
