With the thwack of an arrow cutting through a window, outdoor outfitter chain Cabela’s opened its new 70,000-square-foot Abbotsford location Thursday morning.
Hundreds braved the rain to line up for the store’s opening, with 20 camping overnight to be among the first through the store’s doors.
Cabela’s bills itself as “the world’s largest direct marketer of hunting, fishing, camping and related outdoor merchandise.”
Its new Abbotsford store is its second in B.C. and 10th in Canada. It will anchor the new McCallum Junction shopping centre just north of the McCallum Road Highway 1 interchange.
Cabela’s hired around 200 people to staff its new location and the employees formed two lines to welcome their first customers.
