The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is asking for the public’s help to find a suspect in the armed robbery of a convenience store on Sunday (Feb. 7).

APD Sgt. Judy Bird said the robbery took place at 9:22 a.m. at the Ware Food Market at 2655 Ware St.

She said a man walked into the store, took out a gun, demanded cash and pepper-sprayed the cashier. The suspect stole numerous lottery tickets before running from the store.

Bird said an older model grey Chrysler 300 was seen fleeing the area and might be associated with the robbery.

She said the victim was able to provide a limited suspect description: a man of unknown age, six feet tall and with a medium to large build. He was wearing sunglasses, a dark jacket with the hood up, and blue jeans.

Bird said a more detailed description might be released after police finish reviewing surveillance video.

The APD is asking anyone to come forward who might have seen a person matching the suspect’s description in the area of the robbery between 9 and 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 7 or who has CCTV, dash-cam video or information. They are asked to contact the APD’s major crime unit at 604-859-5225.
