A second patient has been diagnosed with COVID-19 at Abbotsford’s Worthington Pavilion long-term care and rehabilitation facility.

Fraser Health says health officials are on site and communication has begun with patients and families. Worthington Pavilion includes both long-term care beds and a rehabilitation unit. Fraser Health says the case was identified in the long term care.

A previous case was detected nearly a month ago in Worthington’s rehabilitation unit. Dr. Martin Lavoie, Fraser Health’s chief medical health officer, said there is no evidence linking the previous case to the current one. Individual staff members at the facility are not working at both of Worthington’s two units, he said. Fraser Health says it has restricted movement at the facility, limited visitors, and enhanced cleaning measures.

The patient in question is in isolation in their room at the facility. Fraser Health officials are speaking to the media Friday afternoon.

Fraser Health says the previous case at the facility has been resolved.
