Confusion after other media outlets reported snow day

There seemed to be some confusion in the community after other media outlets misreported Abbotsford schools were closed for the day.

In fact, all public schools will be open on Jan. 16.

“We are hearing multiple conflicting reports from many news outlets in the Lower Mainland indicating that we are closed,” said Kayla Stuckart, manager of commutation for the district. “This is incorrect. As posted on our website and social media pages, we are OPEN for January 16, 2020.”

The city’s private schools: Abbotsford Christian Schools, Mennonite Educational Institute, St. John Brebeuf High School and Dasmesh Punjabi School, are all closed. The University of Fraser Valley is also closed.
