An Abbotsford man was driving a Nissan sports car that was involved in a crash with a Honda minivan in Aldergrove on Tuesday night.

Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in a crash Tuesday night in the Aldergrove area in which an Abbotsford driver allegedly ran a red light and collided with another vehicle.

The crash took place at about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of 264 Street and 56 Avenue, not far from the Aldergrove-Abbotsford border.

RCMP Corp. Holly Marks said witnesses told police that the 32-year-old Abbotsford driver of a Nissan sports car failed to to stop at a red light and collided with a Honda minivan

The driver of the Nissan suffered broken bones and was taken to hospital. The female driver of the minivan was treated and released from hospital with minor injuries.

"Police believe both alcohol and speed to be factors in the collision," Marks said.

She said there are still several witnesses left to be interviewed to piece together the sequence of events.

Anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200.
