Air ambulance lands in Walmart parking lot for medical emergency

Person falls out of window of hotel, pronounced dead on scene

An air ambulance lands in the Walmart parking lot on Vedder Way on Friday morning.

An air ambulance landed in the Walmart parking lot on Vedder Way in Abbotsford on Friday morning to deal with a medical emergency.

A person had gone through the window of a top-floor suite of the Super 8 hotel located on the east hillside above the store. Police officers could be seen inspecting a broken window at the hotel.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were on the scene at about 9:30 a.m., and the northeast section of the parking lot was blocked off to set up a landing zone for the air ambulance.

The helicopter landed, and a ground ambulance arrived a few minutes later with the patient, but the  18-year-old male was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say the incident is not being investigated as suspicious in nature.
