An air ambulance landed in the Walmart parking lot on Vedder Way in Abbotsford on Friday morning to deal with a medical emergency.

A person had gone through the window of a top-floor suite of the Super 8 hotel located on the east hillside above the store. Police officers could be seen inspecting a broken window at the hotel.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were on the scene at about 9:30 a.m., and the northeast section of the parking lot was blocked off to set up a landing zone for the air ambulance.

The helicopter landed, and a ground ambulance arrived a few minutes later with the patient, but the  18-year-old male was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say the incident is not being investigated as suspicious in nature.
