Adlem concedes he won't win the mayor's race

With only two polls left to report, incumbent Mission Mayor Ted Adlem says it’s clear that he and his CRMG slate won’t be elected.

Adlem trails front-runner Randy Hawes by more than 800 votes, while all six candidates on his Citizens for Responsible Municipal Government slate trail in the race for council seats.

Adlem said he couldn’t say why voters have rejected his team.

“You’re going to have to ask the voters that,” he said, after conceding that he wasn’t going to win the mayor’s race.

“One thing I know in politics: the voter is always right.”

Asked about the message sent by voters, Adlem said: “The voters have clearly sent a message that they don’t care about their taxes and they did care in 2011.”

“It’s pretty clear that our downtown revitalization plan will go down the tube.”
