The Abbotsford Downtown Business Association (ADBA) announced on Thursday that it will move into the MSA Centennial Library at 33660 South Fraser Way.
The ADBA has entered into a lease agreement with the City of Abbotsford to occupy the space, as well as providing meeting and activity spaces to community groups at reduced rates.
Along with the ADBA office, the building will house the Abbotsford Arts Council's gallery and boutique.
Opened on May 12, 1967, the MSA Centennial Library served the community for more than 40 years. It was closed on Nov. 2, 2012 and its contents moved to the new library, built as part of the renovation/construction of Abbotsford Senior Secondary School.
The ABDA states that the organization will immediately begin plans to rejuvenate the historic building, which backs on to Jubilee Park, while "making every effort to maintain the integrity of the historic value of the building."
Tina Stewart, executive director of the ADBA said "this agreement, allowing the ADBA to maintain and utilize the building, will permit us to create a community hub that will benefit the community of Abbotsford as a whole.”
