Fire crews were on the scene of a collision on Maclure Road in Abbotsford Tuesday afternoon.

A  79-year-old Abbotsford man has been taken to hospital following a crash on Maclure Road around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The man was headed west on Maclure, just east of Townline Road, when he apparently suffered a medical issue. His 2004 Volkswagen travelled over the median, hit a power pole and ended up in a driveway on the south side of the road.

The driver was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

At some point, the man's vehicle collided with a 1994 Toyota Camry driven by a 24-year-old man. Abbotsford Police spokesman Const. Ian MacDonald could not yet confirm which direction the Camry was travelling at the time. The driver did not have any apparent injuries.

Traffic was closed to traffic for several hours on Maclure Road between Townline and Old Yale Road.
