9:51 p.m. – With 71 of 134 ballot boxes reported in Abbotsford West:

Michael de Jong (Liberal): 4,502 votes

Sukhi Dhami (NDP): 2,625

Paul Redekopp (Conservative): 830

Stephen O'Shea (Green): 375

Moe Gill (Independent): 539

Kerry-Lynn Osbourne (Excalibur): 22

9:35 p.m. - Supporters at Moxie's begin cheering "Christy, Christy," as TV networks begin to call it a Liberal government. De Jong will arrive at the restaurant soon to speak to supporters.

9:25 p.m. - Mike de Jong supporters start cheering "Michael, Michael, Michael," as they wait for the arrival of the Abbotsford West candidate, who is showing a strong lead.

9:19 p.m. – We're still awaiting NDP candidate Sukhi Dhami at Curry Time Indian Cuisine, but the TV networks are already projecting a victory in Abbotsford West for Liberal Michael de Jong.

Darshan Gill, owner of the restaurant, described the outcome as "very sad."

"This is my friend, and I was hoping he'd win," he said.

9:15 p.m. - Cheers erupt among Mike de Jong's supporters as the results filter in, with people celebrating de Jong's strong lead and calling it a "Liberal win." See video below.

9:10 p.m. – A hush falls over NDP candidate Sukhi Dhami's supporters as CTV projects the Liberals to win a majority government. Liberal Michael de Jong holds a decisive lead in Abbotsford West, with 55.7 per cent of the votes counted with 18 polling stations reporting. Dhami is second at 23.3 per cent.

9:03 p.m. – With 10 of 114 ballot boxes reporting, incumbent Liberal finance minister Michael de Jong has surged ahead in Abbotsford West, having collected 53.8 per cent of the ballots counted so far. The current count:

Michael de Jong (Liberal): 658 votes

Sukhi Dhami (NDP): 292

Paul Redekopp (Conservative): 118

Moe Gill (Independent): 82

Stephen O'Shea (Green): 64

Kerry-Lynn Osbourne (Excalibur): 9

8:58 p.m. - Liberal supporters are watching the results come in with interest, as Mike de Jong shows a strong lead. With 21 of 134 ballot boxes counted, de Jong has almost 53 per cent of the vote. Supporter Jati Sidhu said he couldn't be happier. "I've been with Mike since day one."

8:53 p.m. – Sukhi Dhami supporters are filtering into the restaurant, watching results come in on TV. See photo below.

8:42 p.m. – We've got our first results in Abbotsford West, albeit just one of the 114 ballot boxes reporting so far. The count is as follows:

Michael de Jong (Liberal): 34 votes

Sukhi Dhami (NDP): 16

Paul Redekopp (Conservative): 8

Stephen O'Shea (Green): 3

Moe Gill (Independent): 2

Kerry-Lynn Osbourne (Excalibur): 0

Dhami supporters are starting to filter into Curry Time, but the candidate has yet to arrive.

8:40 p.m. - Green candidate Stephen O'Shea has gathered with about 25 friends and supporters at Gator's Pub on Essendene Avenue. O'Shea said he is happy to be with friends as the election results come in. "We managed to turn off the hockey game and put on the election results... I'm feeling really good."

8:30 p.m. - Independent candidate Moe Gill gathers with supporters at his campaign office on Blueridge Drive, where he said about 40 people are gathered, with some finishing up dinner and others watching the results. "People are excited, they have their ears perked up to the news," he said.

8:15 p.m. – Across the strip mall from the restaurant where Dhami will watch results come in is the election office of Paul Redekopp. The BC Conservative candidate is in good spirits. "I'd say yesterday I was on pins and needles, but today I'd say I'm pretty mellow and at peace with whatever happens," he said with a smile. 8:05 p.m. - Polls are closed, and a few people have filtered into Moxie's on Simon Avenue, where Abbotsford West Liberal candidate Michael de Jong's supporters will gather to watch the election results. De Jong is expected to arrive at the restaurant at around 9:30 p.m.

8 p.m. – As the polls close, it's quiet at Curry Time Indian Cuisine, the Mt. Lehman restaurant where Abbotsford West NDP candidate Sukhi Dhami will watch the results come in. Dhami and his supporters are expected to arrive at 8:30 p.m.
