A downward trend in visitor traffic at Abbotsford’s Visitor Centre during the colder months has led to the tourism site’s closure for the winter months, Tourism Abbotsford says.

The Visitor Centre’s physical site will be closed as of Oct. 9, set to reopen on March 1, but Tourism Abbotsford said in a news release that services will still be available. That includes through the website’s live chat, direct messaging on social media, a site at the airport, sites at local events and distributions, such as brochures, at hotels and businesses.

Tourism Abbotsford said the declining visitor traffic during fall and winter months is a common trend among visitor centres across the province.

Visitors seeking brochures or other materials should go to the visitor kiosk at the Abbotsford International Airport, which is staffed Wednesdays to Sundays.

All phone numbers will forward to the Tourism Abbotsford marketing office, and events can still be submitted for listing by email at info@tourismabbotsford.ca. Those events will be posted to Tourism Abbotsford’s events calendar.
