Fire crews attended a fire at the Clearbrook Village townhouse complex in Abbotsford early Tuesday morning.

Two children were transported to hospital with minor smoke inhalation after a fire early this morning (Tuesday) in Abbotsford.

Crews from Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service were called at about 2:45 a.m. to the Clearbrook Village townhouse complex at 32550 Maclure Rd.

When they arrived, they discovered that one unit in the complex was engulfed with smoke.

Crews were able to get the fire under control, but one bedroom of the unit was extensively damaged, and the entire townhouse received serious smoke damage.

Assistant Fire Chief Dave Rivett said there were no working smoke alarms in the residence, and the occupants were awakened by the smell of smoke.

All residents were able to get out of the home, although the two children with smoke inhalation were transported by ambulance to hospital.

BC Ambulance and Abbotsford Police were also on scene.

The cause is still under investigation.
