Memento Mori Studios Inc. is holding its third annual Anchor August fundraiser in support of the Abbotsford Community Services Food Bank.
The studio is doing tattoos of anchors at a cost of $50 each, with all proceeds going to the food bank.
The goal is to complete 46 anchors on the day of the fundraiser – Friday, Aug. 30.
Studio director Chris Gauthier said the anchor theme began in an unusual way.
“When we first started the event in 2011, we had only been open for a few months and we were trying to think of an item that would rhyme with ‘August.’ When we realized nothing rhymes with August, we chose anchors … They’ve always been a very popular concept for tattoos,” he said.
