An 89-year-old Abbotsford woman is still shaken following a home invasion early Sunday morning.

An 89-year-old Abbotsford woman is still shaken following a home invasion early Sunday morning.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the woman was sleeping when the door of her apartment was kicked in, in the 2000 block of Gladwin Road at about 1:45 a.m.

A man entered her bedroom  and demanded cash before fleeing. MacDonald said the culprit did not physically harm the woman or use any weapons, but the incident was terrifying for the victim.

Neighbours called police and provided a description of the suspect vehicle, which had sped away.

Two men were arrested by police about one kilometre away from the scene. Clarke Doherty, 26, and Cyril Howe, 28, have been charged wih robbery and break-and-enter.

MacDonald said the incident appears to be random.

“There is a possibility that they believed the house was unoccupied because it’s pretty brazen to just kick in the front door,” he said.

Police are seeking witnesses and more information.

Call 604-859-5225 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 with any details.
