An Abbotsford elementary school handed the Heart and Stroke Foundation a cheque for over $10,000, a fundraising record for the school through a “Jump Rope for Heart” initiative.

The fundraiser started on Jan. 11 and ran until the end of January, with 323 students participating in various jump rope events during gym classes.

Leading the charge was Grade 1 teacher Leanne Wall, who has a history with the foundation due to childhood heart disease, and who had received support from the foundation.

The cheque was handed to the foundation earlier this month.
