Abbotsford Police are looking for the driver of a car that struck a 73-year-old male pedestrian and then fled the scene yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.
The Abbotsford man was using a crosswalk to head east across Clearbrook Road at Hillcrest Avenue. Const. Ian MacDonald said the walk signal was illuminated when a beige or light-brown sedan turned south (left) from Hillcrest onto Clearbrook and hit the man.
He said the impact sent the man about 25 feet into the air. He rolled from the bumper to the hood and over the windshield.
The driver sped from the scene and continued south on Clearbrook Road, MacDonald said.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, which included bruising, numerous scrapes, possible soft-tissue damage and cuts to his head that required stitches,
MacDonald said the vehicle likely would have sustained damage to the front quarter panel, hood and windshield.
"We think someone is going to know about this person or see fresh damage to their vehicle."

This is the second pedestrian-related accident this year in Abbotsford. On the evening of Jan. 1, a 17-year-old boy was struck while crossing Old Clayburn Road and was taken to hospital.
Last year, there were eight fatalities involving pedestrians, as well as one with a cyclist and another with a longboarder.
