The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) has announced that it is holding a Community Appreciation Day on Saturday, Dec. 9.

The APD says the event is taking place so they can “express their gratitude” for the encouragement and support they received after the death of Const. John Davidson.

He was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 6 after being the first to arrive on scene when reports were received of shots being fired at citizens at a strip mall on Mt. Lehman Road.

The appreciation day runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tradex (1190 Cornell St.)

In attendance will be Police Chief Bob Rich, other APD officers and staff.

The event also includes hot dogs, snacks, kids’ activities and a visit from Santa.
