Abbotsford Police busted a marijuana “clone factory” Monday morning in the 4000 block of Ross Road, seizing 6,400 clones (seedlings) and 100 mature plants from an outbuilding.

Const. Ian MacDonald said about 100 more clones were found in the home, as were small amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine.

He said the clones are typically sold for $5 to $10 per plant to people who run grow-ops, and can save weeks of growing time over starting with seeds. He said using clones also increases the likelihood that a plant will continue to grow and flourish.

MacDonald said two men and one woman are “people of interest” in the bust, but charges have not yet been laid.
