Abbotsford Police assist in search for possible border jumper

The man did not cross into Canada and was arrested on the U.S. side.

The Abbotsford Police Department was called in to help track down a possible border jumper early Thursday morning.

Const. Ian MacDonald said U.S. Border Patrol notified police at about 12:45 a.m. that a man on foot appeared to be heading north in a remote area.

Police searched the area near Old Yale Road and Corbould Road – south of Vye Road – in southeast Abbotsford, and the Air 1 police helicopter assisted.

MacDonald said the man did not cross into Canada and was arrested on the U.S. side.
