A young man who allegedly held a gun as he approached a vehicle with two female occupants was arrested Friday afternoon (March 12) in Abbotsford.

Sgt. Judy Bird said patrol officers responded at 12:12 p.m. to the 31000 block of Southern Drive, but the suspect had left before they arrived.

A young man matching the witnesses’ description was located a short distance away. Bird said he was searched, and a gun was located.

“The gun, which appeared real in appearance, was determined to be a BB gun,” she said.

Bird said investigators are in the preliminary stages of the investigation, but the suspect is known to the victims. The incident is not gang-related, she added.

The 17-year-old suspect from Mission faces charges of uttering threats and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes. He remains in police custody.
