The McDonald’s in Abbotsford located at 1858 McCallum Road was closed for some of the day on Saturday after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

McDonald’s Canada explained to The News in a statement that the employee had previously worked at the location on Oct. 5 from 4 to 9 p.m.

All crew members who may have been in close contact with the employee have been asked to self-quarantine until further information is available.

The statement reads, “Out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to immediately shut down the restaurant for a thorough cleaning and sanitization by a certified third party. We are working to ensure we reopen safely, as we know our guests depend on their local McDonald’s and we are committed to doing our part to help our communities.”

The location was reopened on Saturday evening following an extensive cleaning and disinfection by a certified third-party.
