Mayor Henry Braun will be representing Abbotsford in a series of meetings Wednesday with fellow regional mayors, the Sto:lo First Nation, federal Liberal members of parliament and private interest groups to address.

Braun will have closed-door meetings with members of parliament and will address issues relating to the Fraser River and homelessness.

The meetings will also be attended by representatives from the BC Turkey Farmers Association, the aerospace industry, the Chilliwack Economic Partners and the Fraser Valley Regional District.

The Federal Pacific Caucus Meetings are being hosted in Sto:lo Government House and other buildings on the First Nation in Chilliwack.

"This is a truly historic day, not only for [Sto:lo Community Futures] but for all indigenous leaders and community members throughout Solh Temexw (traditional Sto:lo territory)," said SCF chairperson and Scowlitz Chief Colin Pennier, in a statement.

"Getting chiefs and the representatives of the Sto:lo communities together with the federal caucus, offers an excellent opportunity to address our concerns, as we continue to work nation-to-nation building, a key focus of the current federal government."
