Lorne Guilbault, who was wanted by the Abbotsford Police Department, has now been arrested and faces multiple charges.

A man who was wanted by the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) after allegedly ramming a police car and almost hitting several bystanders in July has since been arrested and charged.

Lorne Joseph Guilbault, 38, now faces multiple charges before the courts related to that incident and several previous ones.

The APD issued a press release in mid-August, saying they were trying to locate Guilbault, who they said “engages in high-risk criminal driving behaviour.” They described him as missing all his fingers on both hands.

The press release followed an incident on July 26, in which Guilbault was pulled over by patrol officers who recognized him and knew he had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

The officers saw him get into the driver’s seat of a vehicle in a townhouse complex, but when they stopped the vehicle, Guilbault intentionally rammed the police car, police said.

He then hit another parked car as he fled the complex at a high speed, narrowly missing several bystanders, including children.

Police at the time said that Guilbault had previously been released on bail for a similar incident. According to the provincial court database, that incident occurred on May 5 of this year in Abbotsford.

He also has a slew of charges from April 18, 19 and 20 in Abbotsford. Those offences include motor vehicle theft, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, assault with a weapon and multiple counts of driving while prohibited and breaching his probation.

Guilbault’s most recent charges are for dangerous operation of a vehicle, assault with a weapon, failing to stop, fleeing from police, breaching his bail conditions, breaching his probation and two counts of driving while prohibited.

All the charges from May, April and July are still before the courts.

Guilbault has multiple prior convictions for offences such as theft, possession of stolen property, break-and-enter, possession of stolen mail, mischief, impaired driving, driving while disqualified, possession for the purpose of trafficking, drug trafficking, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and more.
