An Abbotsford man has been sentenced to eight months in prison for two child pornography offences.

The jail term for Danial James Munroe, 59, will be followed by three years of probation.

Munroe was sentenced Dec. 30 in Abbotsford provincial court. He pleaded guilty last July to charges of possessing child pornography and importing or distributing child porn.

Munroe had initially been charged with four offences, but charges of making or publishing child porn and another count of importing/distributing were stayed.

He was arrested and charged in October 2014 after the Abbotsford Police Department was notified by an outside investigator that on Feb. 4 of that year the possible distribution and possession of images of child sexual abuse had occurred from an Abbotsford home.

Police raided the residence and seized items such as computers, phones, cameras, hard drives and storage devices.
