A 41-year-old Abbotsford man has been charged with the 2010 murder of his sister.

Harmohinder Singh Khosa appeared in Abbotsford provincial court earlier today to face one count of second-degree murder. His 34-year-old sister, Amarjit Kaur Khosa, was found dead in a basement suite at 32153 Austin Ave. on July 21.

Cpl. Dale Carr, spokesperson for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said Harmohinder was on police radar early in the investigation.

"Over the past few months, we had been continuing to gather the evidence to support charge approval," he said.

He said the case has no links to drugs, gangs or organized crime.

The accused does not have any prior criminal charges, according to the online provincial court database.

Police have not revealed the circumstances surrounding the homicide, or the exact cause of death.

At the time of her murder last year, Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said police were called to the scene by someone who knew the victim and had regular interaction with her.

Her death was immediately deemed suspicious and was confirmed as a homicide after an autopsy was performed.
