In a show of mutual support on the eve of the election writ,BC Liberal candidates Michael de Jong (Abbotsford-West), Simon Gibson (Abbotsford-Mission) and Darryl Plecas (Abbotsford-South) hosted a tri-riding election kickoff breakfast.
Former Abbotsford Mayor George Peary emceed the event for the crowd of more than 250.
A packed room heard about how important this election is for the future of Abbotsford and Mission.
“Its humbling to see so many people come out and show their support at 7:30 am on a Monday morning,” said de Jong. “Never in a provincial election has there been such a stark difference between our government that want to balance your budget and the NDP that are pledging deficits over the next four years.”
“Many people have told me they’re concerned about the economic stability of our province,” said Plecas. “The BC Liberals have a good track record and I am committed to making sure our economic prosperity stays on course.”
“A great event that shows everyone that we are united, strong, and ready to campaign.” said Gibson. “I was extremely encouraged by the attendance at the breakfast.”
The 2013 BC Provincial Election officially starts April 16. Advanced voting will take place on May 8-11, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with Election Day on May 14.
