Three separate fire-related associations are joining forces for a big nine-day event in Abbotsford.

The Fire Chiefs’ Association of BC, the BC Fire Training Officers Association and the BC Emergency Vehicle Technicians Association, will combine their annual provincial conferences into one.

The conference will take place from June 1 to June 9, at the Ramada Plaza and Conference Centre and the Fire Service Expo will take place June 4-6 at Tradex.

“By combining their resources, these groups will be able to collaborate on initiatives that impact firefighters across B.C.,” said Mayor George Peary.

This event will bring a number of renowned speakers to Abbotsford to present on topics including, training, administration, and operational issues faced by today’s fire service.

“By pooling their resources, these groups will provide many benefits to firefighters in B.C.,” said Dean Colthorp, president of the BC Fire Training Officers Association. “We expect the outcomes will be felt for years to come.”

As a major component of the event, the largest fire service trade show in the Pacific Northwest will is taking place, allowing firefighters from across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley to visit Abbotsford and experience what is currently available to assist fire departments in their day-to-day operations.
