A 50-year-old Chilliwack man is facing charges after a collision with a motorcycle Saturday in Mission left an Abbotsford couple in serious condition.
The couple have now been transferred out of intensive care, but remain at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicated the Chilliwack man was travelling north on Johnson Road, ran a stop sign while making a left turn and struck the motorcycle heading east on Lougheed Highway.
"The driver of the motorcycle was pinned under the Cavalier and freed by nearby homeowners utilizing a large jack," RCMP Const. Dave Lagerwerf said in a news release.
The Abbotsford couple, a 50-year-old man and his 48-year-old wife, were airlifted to hospital by air ambulance.
Police said there is no indication alcohol was a factor in the accident. However, the Cavalier did not have insurance at the time of the collision. It was towed from the scene and is now being tested for its mechanical condition.
