Key Clubs in the Fraser Valley have collected at least 10,000 shoes for people developing countries and areas hit by natural disaster.

Friday was sorting day at Yale Secondary and Baneet Braich, the lieutenant-governor of 10 local high school key clubs, was pleased by the response.

“It’s a good feeling, to be making a difference, she said, as bag after bag of used and new shoes was pulled from a cargo container and sorted into matching pairs.

The key clubs are working with a charitable organization called Soles4Souls that has distributed over 26 million shoes around the world since 2006.

High school Key Clubs from Yale, Mouat, Bateman, Abbotsford Traditional, MEI, Rick Hansen, and Abbotsford Senior in Abbotsford and GW Graham in Chilliwack were involved in the campaign.
