Like any city, Abbotsford has its share of dangerous and idiotic drivers.
Here are some of the more dramatic speeding incidents local police have dealt with in the last year and a half:
• a 19-year-old driver in a Subaru BRZ was caught going 155 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 11, followed an hour later by an 18-year-old in a Chrysler 300 clocked at 152 km/h on another stretch of the same highway in March 2018. Both were “novice” drivers.

• a female driver in her 40s was travelling 102 km/h in a 30 km/h school zone, as children were leaving school and several schools buses were in the area in February 2019.

• an 18-year-old male driver in an Audi A3 was clocked going 187 km/h in an 80 km/h speed zone on Highway 11 in July 2019. He was a novice driver.

All four drivers were charged with excessive speeding and had their cars impounded.
Anyone caught exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 40 km/h in B.C. automatically gets their car impounded. They can also lose their licence, but that is up to the superintendent of motor vehicles.
