40 people remain missing two days after a massive tanker-train derailment, explosion, and fire in the small Quebec town of Lac-Megantic, and the death toll stands at five after Sunday night.
Police said they are meeting with family members of the missing people to build files and continue their search, while the area around the incident remains "off limits", according to the CBC.
"There's a been a lot of work that has been done on the scene during the night, and hopefully we'll get some more areas that we can search during the day," said provincial police Sgt. Benoit Richard. "But of course, that is the firefighters responsibility."
Almost 2,000 people have been forced from their homes in Lac-Megantic.
Meanwhile, officials are still examining the environmental impact of the incident, and Langley, B.C. mayor Jack Froese (on Saturday) said his city and its fire crews are prepared to handle derailments like the one in Quebec.
"We have four halls, full-time halls, plus our paid on-call members," Froese said (Huff Post BC). "And they have a plan in place so if there's a derailment they come down, basically they'd be the first responders to deal with it."

YouTube: Another Quebec train caught unattended
Saturday's crash was caused when the train was left unattended and rolled into Lac-Megantic, when it derailed. The train was operated by company Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Railway (MMA), which appears to own another engine that was caught on video, unattended and idling only a day after the explosion:
According to the uploader – YouTube user "Cobratann" – the doors to the train were locked and nobody was inside. He took the video on Sunday, July 7.
The video has gone viral with over 94,700 views and counting, and incident is being investigated.
On Sunday, MMA said it believes Saturday's devastating explosion and derailment was caused because that train's engine shut down and didn't have enough power to prevent itself from rolling away.
MMA said the train's engine "shut down subsequent to the departure of the engineer".
