Vince Dimanno is running for Abbotsford council.
The president of the AbbyFest Multicultural Society, Dimanno is also an executive member of the Abbotsford Triathlon Club and Robert Bateman Secondary School PAC.
Dimanno also founded the online website Abbotsford Today.
Dimanno first got involved in politics during the Plan A referendum, which he was against.
He ran for council with the AbbotsfordFirst slate in 2014, but was the only member of the party not to win a seat, finishing 12th with 6,302 votes.
Dimanno isn’t running with AbbotsfordFirst this year. He said the slate hasn’t followed through on its promises. He also said he isn’t taking donations, because he had raised money four years ago and those who had given hadn’t seen enough follow-through by AbbotsfordFirst.
Dimanno says the city collects more taxes than it needs and has also unnecessarily raised water rates.
He said the city should be spending more on parks and recreation facilities, and, in particular, on swimming pools.
