An all-candidates meeting will be held on Oct. 11 for the Abbotsford School District board of education race.

Parents and voters will have an opportunity to hear from candidates for Abbotsford’s school board on Oct. 11.

Abbotsford’s district parent advisory council is holding an all-candidates forum for school trustee candidates at the Abbotsford Arts Centre at 7 p.m.

Seventeen candidates are vying for seven spots on the Abbotsford School District’s board of education in the Oct. 20 local elections, up one candidate from the 2014 election. This year’s election also includes the first school trustee slate, Abbotsford ParentsFIRST, which is running one candidate in the election.

At the forum, to be moderated by DPAC vice-chair Kandyce Wark, each candidate will be given two minutes to for introductions and will then answer questions compiled by the council from email feedback, DPAC chair Sherri Anderson said. The floor will not be opened up to audience questions, Anderson said, but added that questions can be directed to the DPAC ahead of time at dpac.sd34@gmail.com.

Doors open for the event at 6:30 p.m., with seating capacity for 701.
