You can use every club in your bag at Fraserglen, an 18-hole, par 62 course that plays in about 3 to 3 1/2 hours.

While golf is a sport that thrives on tradition, the region’s top courses know that a little innovation can be a great thing.

Whether it’s the science of sustainable golf course maintenance practices or using technology to improve golfers’ experience at the course, Abbostford’s Fraserglen Golf Course combines the best of yesterday and today.

The 18-hole course is a local favourite – both accessible and challenging for all levels of golfers. At a par 62, it plays in 3 to 3 1/2 hours, and allows golfers to use every club in their bag, says Fraserglen general manager Corrine Allan.

And with a long-standing team of industry professionals hard at work through winter and spring, the course is in terrific shape for the summer season, she notes.

What’s new at Fraserglen

Fraserglen golfers were thrilled to hear that after last winter’s ice storm wreaked havoc on the driving range facilities, they’re now back and better than ever with brand new netting extending from the two-level, 40-stall tee boxes offering both open and covered tees, says general manager Corrine Allan.

Complementing the popular driving range is the opportunity to practice your short game at the putting green and chipping area, all part of the Fraserglen Golf and Training Centre, welcoming golfers from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. or take your game to the next level with a few lessons with head professional Maureen Bruce and her team.

Bringing this age-old sport to the next generation is a key philosophy at Fraserglen, and you’ll find a full selection of options for Junior golfers of all ages, from beginning lessons to week-long camps.

And if you have trouble downloading the course’s new app, you know those Juniors will be able to help you with that!

The app is Fraserglen’s latest innovation that creates a truly user-friendly experience for those keen to embrace technology as a way of managing their game all in one convenient place – their smartphone! The easy-to-use app allows you to book tee times, track your score, enjoy in-app deals and lots more, all from the palm of your hand! Best of all it’s FREE for iTunes and Google Play.

The one golf tradition that hasn’t changed is that of the 19th hole, so be sure to leave time before or after your round to visit the Glen Bar & Grill, home to delicious food, cold beverages and Saturday night entertainment. And the patio? Whether you come to golf, or just enjoy Abbotsford’s sensational summer weather, where else would you want to be?
