Abbotsford’s Austin Batra was disqualified for this attack during BFL57 on Saturday night.

Abbotsford’s Austin Batra experienced the highest of highs, followed by the lowest of lows at Battlefield Fight League 57 at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver on Saturday night.

Batra entered the cage to tangle with Perry Hayer for the BFL’s amateur welterweight title.

After weeks of trash talking both online and during the event weigh-ins on Friday night, Batra battered Hayer with a pair of left hooks and knocked him out just 32 seconds into the bout.

As Hayer was out cold, Batra jumped and dropped an elbow on the prone fighter. That action resulted in a disqualification for Batra and the title was awarded to Hayer.

Batra stated that he did not see the referee waving the fight off and was in the air when he realized he had won the fight. He added that he tried to avoid any contact when he became aware the fight was called.

He stated following the match that he considers himself the true champion and wants a re-match with Hayer as soon as possible.

Batra had previously competed at BFL 55 back in May when he defeated Justin Aujla-Fieldt in the first round.
