Abbotsford golfer Nick Taylor finished tied for 30th at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris over the weekend.
Taylor played four rounds from Thursday to Sunday (Aug. 1 to 4), recording -1, +2, -3 and -2 for an overall finish of -4.
Rafael Campos of Puerto Rico and Viktor Holland of Norway tied with Taylor, while Scottie Scheffler of the US took the gold with -19, followed by Tommy Fleetwood of England with -18 for the silver and Hideki Matsuyama of Japan with -17 for the bronze.
The event took place at Le Golf National in Guyancourt, France.
“The honour of a lifetime to represent Canada as an Olympian and one of the greatest experiences of my career,” Taylor said in a post on X on Monday (Aug. 5).
“The atmosphere at Le Golf National was electrified and a great test. Wish the golf could have been a little better, but I enjoyed every moment and my game feels primed to go on a run to end the season.”
Taylor was one of two Canadian golfers who qualified to represent Canada at the Olympics.
Corey Conners of Listowel, Ont. also competed, finishing tied for ninth with -12 over the four rounds.
The event was Taylor’s Olympic debut. The 36-year-old is a four-time winner on the PGA Tour, including a historic win at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open to become the first Canadian in nearly 70 years to capture the championship in a nail-biting playoff with Tommy Fleetwood.
