The Abbotsford Police Department (APD) is looking for two men they say targeted the wrong people during a home break-in on Tuesday (Oct. 8).

APD media officer Const. Art Stele said patrol officers responded at 3:17 a.m. to the break-in at a residence in the area of Trestle Avenue and Lefeuvre Road.

Stele said the residents had discovered two unknown men in their home.

"A confrontation ensued, resulting in the suspects fleeing the area," he said.

Stele said investigators believe the occupants of the home were not the intended targets.

The two suspects were both white men. One is described as being six feet tall to six-foot-three and with a heavy build. The other is described as having a skinny build.

The victims were unable to provide more detailed descriptions.

Investigators are seeking dashcam or CCTV footage from anyone who was in the area between midnight and 3:30 a.m. Those who might have footage are asked to contact the APD at 604-859-5225.
