Two suspects were arrested after fleeing police and crashing a stolen vehicle at the Vedder Way and Marshall Road intersection on Wednesday (Jan. 8).

Two suspects were arrested after allegedly speeding away from police in a stolen vehicle and crashing into a pair of cars in Abbotsford on Wednesday (Jan. 8).

A firearm was also discovered in a search of the vehicle, according to an Abbotsford Police Department (APD) news release.

At roughly 3 p.m., officers attempted to stop a vehicle near the Lonzo Shelter in east Abbotsford but the driver crashed through a fence and sped away. Police say the vehicle was believed to be involved in the drug trade.

"Officers did not pursue the vehicle due to the reckless driving of the suspect vehicle," APD said.

At the intersection of Vedder Way and Marshall Road, the vehicle crashed into two civilian vehicles. Police say the civilians were not injured.

The occupants of the suspect vehicle ran away but were found and arrested. Police confirmed the vehicle was stolen and discovered the firearm in the search.

APD says both suspects remain in custody.
