A local real estate agent has been nominated to run for the Conservative Party in Abbotsford-Mission in the next provincial election.
Reann Gasper will face current MLA Pam Alexis, who previously announced she will seek re-election with the NDP on Oct. 19.
Gasper ran for an Abbotsford council seat in the October 2022 election, placing 17th out of 21 candidates.
She is a licensed real estate agent with the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board and holds a diploma in interior design from Lasalle College.
Gasper also has a bachelor of arts in Christian ministry, a diploma in worship and creative arts, and a certificate in pastoral counselling.
She has worked as an educational assistant in the Abbotsford school district and currently serves as a senior church leader for creative arts.

Her community involvement also includes serving on the Electoral District Association, being actively involved with Business Network International and volunteering at Lydia House events in Mission.
Gasper’s profile on the provincial Conservative Party website states that she is a mom of three, a wife of 20 years and “an immigrant with a proud heritage.”
“Beyond her family roles, she is a social justice advocate, actively raising funds and awareness for human trafficking while supporting local and global organizations that aid at-risk women and families.”
The website states she is running for the Conservative Party because of “shared values of freedom, personal responsibility and promoting the growth of private enterprise.”
“Her passion is grounded in a zero-tolerance stance against injustice and abuse of power.”
Other local candidates announced so far for the provincial election are Marcus Delves with BC United in Abbotsford South (currently held by Bruce Banman with the Conservatives) and Karen Long with BC United in Langley-Abbotsford (a new electoral district).
Banman, who sat with BC United prior to last fall, has not yet announced whether he will seek re-election.
Long-time Abbotsford West MLA Mike de Jong (BC United) has not yet confirmed his plans, although he told CTV News on Wednesday (Feb. 7) that he has been approached to run federally for the Conservatives and he is considering the offer.
No other candidates for Abbotsford West have yet been announced.
